Studies on evolution of immune defence reactions, with special attention to biotechnologically interesting animals (aquacultured teleosts fishes).
Cloning of cytokine genes and immunoregulatory molecules of sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and sea bream (Sparus aurata).
Expression of recombinant cytokines and studies of their bioactivity "in vivo" and "in vitro".
Production of mono and polyclonal antibodies against cytokines and immunoregulatory molecules.
Studies of immune molecules gene expression in treated and/or vaccined animals.
EST libraries construction from animals treated with bacterial and viral pathogens.
Determination of constitutive and induced gene expression using PCR, Real Time PCR, PCR-ARRAY system, and hybridization "in situ".
Determination of leucocytes and lymphocytes activity "in vitro" from control and treated animals, using cell proliferations and activation of intracellular second messenger pathways.
