  Antibodies: this topic deals with a study on the immunoreactivity of the major allergens purified from Polistes gallicus venom.

Enzymology: this topic deals with studies on the structure-function relationships in the phosphomonohydrolase superfamily enzymes. The final goal is to produce high affinity selective inhibitors.

Molecular basis of diseases: this topic deals with: i) the ephrin signal transduction pathways and function in normal and oncogenic development; ii) the role of reactive oxygen species in cancer progression and invasion; iii) the role of the poly-(ADP-ribose) polymerase and of redox sensitive protein kinases in the heart damage that follows post-ischemic reperfusion injury; iv) the role of proteins secreted by phytotoxic fungi in plant diseases.
Protein folding and misfolding: this topic deals with the study of the molecular basis of protein folding, misfolding and aggregation as well as to the structure of amyloid.

Proteomics: the proteomic technology is applied to study the complex signal proteins that involves phosphorylation as well as reversible-oxidation.

Signal transduction: This topic deals with: i) the reactive oxygen species as intracellular messengers and as stress agents; ii) the molecular mechanisms governing cell migration and proliferation in normal and cancer cells; iii) the study of the biological activity and molecular mechanism of action of sphingosine 1-phosphate in skeletal muscle and staminal cells; iv) the study of the role of lipid rafts in the regulation of sphingosine 1-phosphate metabolism and its evoked response. An additional research deals with the study of the molecular action of the 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 and D3-derivatives with low calcemic activity in cultured cells.
